Disability Employment Services
DES (Disability Employment Services) is an initiative of the federal government to assist those with disability, injuries and illness in securing and maintaining gainful employment.
The program benefits clients who need support, training and health interventions and as well as this, benefits employers with free recruitment services, financial subsidies, free workplace modifications and a proven system which helps employers retain staff therefore increasing staff retention rates.
MAX Employment, one of the largest Job Services Australia providers, is contracted by the federal government to run this initiative at many of its offices around Australia.
Benefits to Employers
The DES program is funded by the federal government so there is no recruitment cost to you to employ a DES client or modify your workplace to assist an employee with a disability.
Employer Assistance Fund
In some instances you may be eligible to receive a wage subsidy for taking on a DES client. Up to $1500 can be paid to you over thirteen weeks, which assists you financially, and gives our clients the satisfaction and rewards that come with secure employment.
You can use your subsidy to help in training costs, wage expenses or any other means at your discretion.
Workplace Modifications
Did you know your workplace can be modified free of charge to suit employees with a disability?
Some examples include:
- Purchase of business equipment such as laptops, specialised keyboards, voice recognition or screen reading software
- Modifications to the physical workplace such as ramps, lowered benches and added handrails
- Alterations to existing equipment such as telephone handsets or fleet vehicles.
